Wood Ox day - We return as the Cow jumped over the moon. Is it all downhill from here?
Wow, it’s been such a while since we last wrote a blog, that I am desperately trying to remember how we write these things. Let me see, oh yeah, we look at all of the different feng shui and Chinese astrology influences occurring today and then think of the most quirky and informative title to sum them up. I wonder what happened today then?
Due to some very large international projects and extremely tight deadlines taking up all our time, I think it’s now getting on for a couple of months since we last wrote a blog! You may know exactly how long it’s been if you have missed our translations of daily advice from the Chinese book of nature. As you know, they help you decide on the best activities for the day ahead and vary from meditation and shopping, to beauty, health and business dealings.
Here are today's recommendations and they consist of meditation or honouring ancestors, funeral duties, having a haircut, sweeping the house, buying or making clothes, filling cracks in walls or refurbishing a kitchen, laying foundations and opening a watercourse (modern equivalent of installing a water feature). It advises against buying a wedding dress or planting seeds. Tomorrow is a much more interesting day and we will give you the full spectrum of dos and don’ts to help you be in the right place at the right time. Now back to today!
It is a Wood Ox day with a full moon tonight and, as ox is another name for cow, you can see how we derived today's title. However, the most significant happening recently was that yesterday was the start of the first sexagesimal cycle since the summer solstice. Although a controversial point amongst Chinese astrologers and feng shui master consultants, all can now agree that the Yin half of the year is truly underway. As Yin refers to downward energy, you can see the final part of our title at work. Originally posted 3rd July 2012
Wood Ox day Chinese horoscope - Trick or treat, no Sweet and Sour?
As its Halloween, “trick or treat” is a common phrase heard today with children offering this choice to friends and neighbours. Dressed in fiendish costumes, kids will threaten to perform dastardly deeds if not recompensed by a suitable amount of bling, baubles or sweet things. As Feng Shui only brings out the best in people, we will now offer you, so to speak, something sweet.
Did you know that when we view today's Wood Ox in terms of flavours, wood is sour and sweet refers to the Ox’s earth element? Ask anyone with either a wood or earth day stem in their Chinese astrology horoscope and they will confirm their preference for sweet or sour flavours, especially if they were born in season; spring for wood and summer for earth people.
Understanding people’s energy is part of Feng Shui and allows consultants to recommend enhancements to create a perfect nurturing environment in any home or office. This doesn’t mean you must take a cheese and onion sandwich home with you though because colour, shape and most importantly position, all correspond to elements and are applied instead.
Using today's Wood Ox zodiac sign as an example in five-element analysis, wood actually controls earth and creates a qi blockage that restricts self-expression. With emotions constantly kept in check, this may in severe cases result in stomach issues.
Wood Ox qi is balanced by incorporating metal and water elements with colours such as grey, white or metallic, and black and dark blue respectively. Alternatively, we can install round, flowing shapes in furniture and fittings. Even spending time in the north or west parts of a home or office also works, as does carrying out certain activities and vocations. Of course, a home and office also has its own type of energy, and when we analyse and balance both people and building, we create a perfect atmosphere. Perhaps, you can see why Feng Shui is so popular?
The above cures and recommendations mainly refer to those with a Wood Ox in the day pillar of their Chinese horoscope. See if this is you with our free Chinese horoscope. Regardless of which zodiac signs you have, this dedicated Wood Ox web page explains how your sign will fare below.
The Tong Shu or Chinese almanac recommends only meditation or honouring ancestors, barbecuing, or fixing walls and smoothing paths as the only suitable activities. It advises against buying a boat or opening a water course today.
We will return tomorrow on a Fire Tiger day, until then, enjoy now!

Wood Ox daily Chinese horoscope - Friends hunt super cow in star burst
This is probably the most outrageous title I have ever written, but then again we need something eye catching to match tonight’s Supernova phenomenon. This imploding star releases vast radiation to become the brightest object in the universe.
Tonight’s starburst is so near to our planet that we can actually see it from our gardens; albeit through binoculars. The Chinese almanac suggests that it’s a good day to hunt and meet friends, who no doubt can help you find it against the back drop of the night sky. So, champagne by supernova anyone?
Super cow is actually a veiled allusion to a Wood Ox, said to be the most powerful of the five Oxen in Chinese astrology. On the downside, if Wood Ox is part of your horoscope and you can discover with our free Chinese horoscope; you tend to trap your emotions within and this can cause a lot of stress. Eating healthily, and taking charge while communicating can help balance your energy. Suitable foods would be any root vegetables, fish, nuts and anything with a salty taste.
Wood Ox celebrities include Agnes Bruckner, Chelsy Davy, Arielle Kebbel, Stéphane Lambiel, Jack Osbourne, Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney.
Tomorrows Fire Tiger is better and the supernova phenomenon will last for the next 10 days. Until then enjoy NOW! Posted 7th September 2011
Wood Ox day Chinese horoscope - No cock and bull story?
Today's title originates from the height of the coaching era in the UK when The Cock and The Bull were two of the main coaching inns on a busy stop off point between the north and south of England. It refers to the banter and rivalry between groups of travellers, which is said to have resulted in exaggerated and fanciful stories.
The reason why I chose it is that today is a Wood Ox day, which is the obvious bull. The not so apparent part is that being a Snake Year, the Ox only needs a Rooster (cock) to make a very strong metal influence. If you were born in a Rooster year, or after the first week of September, you may have one and that could make today highly memorable. You can discover whether this is you with our free Chinese horoscope.
If you are a regular reader of our feng shui blog, you will know that as there are almost thirteen million different charts in Chinese astrology, it’s impossible to generalise whether today will be spectacularly good or bad for our Rooster friends. However, follow the instructions in our attribute cycle and see for yourself.
Mind you, it is worth taking a look regardless of your Chinese animal sign as between 5pm and 7pm (local time) today, the Rooster hour will form this triple alignment and affect us all. For the rest of today the feng shui or Chinese almanac suggests meditating or honouring ancestors, travelling, seeing a doctor or choosing a treatment, buying or setting direction for your bed, opening or installing a water feature and fixing nets. Don’t lay foundations or plant seeds.
To see how your own sign is affected, read below and we will hopefully return tomorrow, although it’s extremely busy right now. Until then, enjoy every moment of NOW!

Wood Ox day Chinese horoscope - Spring Cow day - it’s a good day for moving home - No bull!
Today is a Wood Ox day, as wood is associated with Spring and Ox with cow I have renamed it in the title above. Actually, the original Spring Cow was a mystical beast ridden by Lao Zi (Tse) the father of Taoism. It is shown annually in the Chinese almanac to predict annual themes, from yin yang polarity to weather and harvest yields.
Today the almanac lists suitable activities as meditating, asking for blessings, taking a course, travelling and seeing friends, getting engaged or married, buying clothes, moving home, planting seeds, having a haircut, fixing paths and filling cracks, refurbishing and digging foundations, buying a cooker or hunting for a bargain.
If Wood Ox is part of your horoscope you tend to trap your emotions within and this can cause a lot of stress. Eating healthily, and taking charge while communicating can help balance your energy, suitable foods would be any root vegetables and fish, nuts or anything with a salty taste. Wood Ox daily Chinese horoscope Spring Ox day
Today is a Wood Ox day, as wood is associated with Spring I have renamed it. Actually, the original Spring Ox was a mystical beast ridden by Lao Zi (Tse) the father of Taoism. It is shown annually in the Chinese almanac to predict annual themes, from yin yang polarity to weather and harvest yields.
Today the almanac lists suitable activities as meditating, getting engaged, swapping gifts, fixing a roof, opening a warehouse or making funeral arrangements. The last time the Wood Ox appeared was 60 days ago when activities included seeing friends, having a haircut, fixing paths and filling cracks. The Wood Ox rides again on March 11th.
The Ox is the end and the Pig is the beginning of a very strong combination known as a directional trine. This disruption affects the attributes associated with the combinations element, in this case water, which may cause problems in communication or travel. For best results, make sure whoever you are communicating with understands you, and allow extra time for journeys.
Rat signs actually have immunity to this phenomenon and they should feel vibrant and be at the centre of attention. The other water sign of Pig can feel powerful but may be pressurised, in which case wearing white, grey or taking charge will alleviate this.
The Ox clashes with the Goat and this may bring confusion to the latter. Although, other earth signs of Dragon, Dog and Ox have power and romance, as do female Pig and Rat signs. Whilst Rabbit and Tiger and Monkey and Rooster signs can be lucky with money. Snake and Horse signs are full of ideas which they can put these into practice. Posted November 2010
